Sahara Wall Panel by Gabriel Tan for Abstracta
Dezeen Showroom: designer Gabriel Tan has created an acoustic wall panel with protruding curved lines informed by sand dunes for Swedish brand Abstracta.
The organic curving lines in the Sahara Wall Panel were designed to add a visually unique feature in interiors while also improving the space's acoustic environment.
Sahara Wall Panels come in a square format and can be combined into symmetrical and asymmetrical patterns that mimic the shapes of desert sand dunes.
They are made from waste cork left over from wine production, intended as a sustainable material choice that protects cork forests in Portugal.
"The Sahara Wall Panel, designed by Gabriel Tan, is inspired by the soft, organic lines of desert sand dunes," said Abstracta.
"Its shape is simple yet versatile, offering a starting point for creating a variety of patterns, from symmetrical and geometrically strict configurations to more dynamic, random formations that evoke the natural flow of sand dunes."
